Data, import & export
Loach distinguishes between single-chat exports, full backups, partial wipes and full resets. Mixing them up is the most common source of confusion.
Import won’t accept my JSON file
“Import” rejects the file you picked.
Import expects a full Loach export — the JSON produced by Settings → Data → Export everything. Single-chat exports (the per-chat Export menu) are not import sources; they’re for sharing or archiving outside the app.
“Wipe user data” didn’t remove my API key
After wiping, your OpenAI-compatible API key is still configured.
By design. Wipe user data removes chats, Spaces, Snippets, MCP servers, and memories but keeps app settings and your stored API key. To clear everything, including the key, use Factory reset instead.
